5 Steps to Create Your Success

Leadership is not something that we are born with; it is not a genetic trait that some people have and others don’t. Environment, family and culture may play a role in whether leadership opportunities present themselves; however, there are many instances of ordinary people from humble circumstances performing extraordinary things.

I think that one of the keys to creating a successful network lies in the ability to create leaders within that network. This is probably not new to anyone reading this. The challenge lies in how to recognize these leaders. I have seen some amazing, talented, and well-spoken people who never put the effort in to create success. I have also seen people with tremendous obstacles create unbelievable success. So how do we sort out future leaders?

Accountability is a major indicator. First is your willingness to hold yourself accountable to perform activities that will ensure success. Next is the ability to hold others accountable to themselves and to you. In other words, if someone is not willing to be accountable to you, more than likely they will not be able to do those things that are necessary for success.

5 Steps to Create Your Success:

1) Where is your belief?
a. This belief needs to be belief in both the products and the opportunity.
b. The belief can begin based upon someone else’s personal experience.
c. This belief becomes the foundation for your own personal experience that can be shared with others. It is your personal story or testimonial.

2) What is your plan of accountability for your business?
a. Set realistic goals. Goals that can be achieved yet stretch your comfort zone.
b. Commit yourself to achieving these goals.
c. Share these goals with someone you trust to hold you accountable. This may be a mentor or up-line leader.
d. Each night create your “Success with Six” agenda of your daily goals and stick to them. This will help you subconsciously work on them while you sleep so you wake up with your goals in mind.

3) Who are the people in your group whom are accountable?
a. Have those brutal fact discussions (from the book “Good to Great”) to determine if they are truly willing to be accountable.
b. Spend more time with those who show themselves to be accountable: match energy for energy.

4) No easy exit.
a. One of the easiest things to do is to “give up.”
b. Success is accomplished by sticking with it.
c. “Giving it a try” or treating this like a hobby will not bring success. You must be fully invested in your success.

5) Passion is a common trait that I have seen in leaders.
a. Passion can be the seed of which amazing success grows. Whatever you decide to do, do it with passion.
b. Don’t let anyone else keep you from achieving your dreams. There are many dream-stealers out there. They are the first to try to convince you to divert from your vision. Don’t let that happen. The one thing about mediocrity is that it wants everyone else to be mediocre as well.
c. Accept nothing less than excellence…especially when it comes to your future.
